Dropping Windows 11 24H2 and older hardware support on October 13, 2026

On October 13, 2026 we are changing which Windows versions and which PCs Arctium App and all of our tools support. This post explains exactly what changes and what you need to do.

Short version

• We are dropping Windows 11 24H2 (the normal Home/Pro version, build 26100).
• We are dropping older hardware, meaning PCs from before roughly 2015.
• If your PC is from around 2015 or later and you are on a supported Windows version, you are fine.

What we are dropping

Windows 11 24H2 reaches end of servicing on October 13, 2026. After that date, we do not support it either.

This only affects the normal Home and Pro edition of 24H2. The LTSC edition of 24H2 stays supported, because Microsoft supports it much longer.

If you are on 24H2 Home or Pro, update to 25H2 or 26H2 before October 13, 2026.

Older hardware

On the same date we are also dropping support for older hardware. This means PCs from before roughly 2015.

To run Arctium App and our tools, your CPU must support AVX2 and AES-NI, and both must be enabled in your BIOS/UEFI. Having the chip is not enough, it has to be turned on.

• Intel: Haswell or newer, roughly mid 2013 and later. Warning: some low end CPUs from that era do not have AVX2 and will not work. Same for a bunch of very low end models, they may be newer but still lack AVX2.
• AMD: Excavator or newer, roughly 2015 and later.

Simple version: if your PC is from around 2015 or later, you are probably fine. If it is older, it probably will not work anymore. If it is a very cheap or low end model, check it, because some of those are missing AVX2 even when they are newer.

Supported Windows versions after October 13, 2026

Windows version rules

• Windows 11: any version still receiving updates from Microsoft is supported.
• Windows 10: supported only while consumer Extended Security Updates (ESU) last.
• Out of servicing: if your Windows version no longer receives updates from Microsoft, we do not support it. Update first, whatever the version number says.

How to check your PC

1. Press Win + R, type winver, and press Enter. This shows your Windows version and build.
2. If it says 24H2 and it is not LTSC, update Windows.
3. If your PC is from before 2015, it may stop working with Arctium after October 13, 2026.
4. If your PC is a very low end model, check it too, even if it is newer than 2015.

What to do

• On Windows 11 24H2 Home or Pro: update to 25H2 or 26H2 before October 13, 2026.
• On an older or low end PC: check whether your CPU supports AVX2 and AES-NI. If it does not, you will need newer hardware.
• On LTSC 24H2, Windows 11 25H2, Windows 11 26H2, or Windows 10 with ESU: you do not need to do anything.

Why this is happening

Microsoft ends support for Windows 11 24H2 on October 13, 2026. Once a Windows version stops getting proper mainstream updates, we cannot safely support it. The hardware change comes from our tools now requiring AVX2 and AES-NI, which most CPUs have had since around 2015. Older chips often do not have them, and some very low end models are missing AVX2 even when they are newer.

Todays launcher update

A launcher update is coming shortly after this post. It will start rolling in some of these new requirements.

If your PC is affected, you may see warnings, or the launcher may crash. This is expected, not a bug. Moving to a supported system will fix it.
